Boulder Canyon Potato Chips

Compostable packaging

Less guilt, more pleasure. Packaging is made from wood pulp and certified for all key biodegradation situations including industrial, home and waste-water categories. Fantastic initiative from Boulder Canyon Natural Foods.

Info from Boulder Canyon on their compostable packaging:

Boulder Canyon is proud to provide snacks that are better for the body in packaging that is better for the Earth. Select Boulder Canyon flavors are now offered in compostable packaging. These bags are certified to meet ASTM D6400 “Specification for Compostable Plastics” standards for all key biodegradation situations, including industrial, home and waste-water categories. The material is also recyclable through organic recycling (composting) facilities.

Our compostable bags are produced from wood pulp, sourced from managed plantations. The suppliers who manage these plantations either have, or are working towards Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) or similar certification. Unlike corn and starch-based compostable bags, the wood pulp mitigates any potential negative impact on existing food supplies. Similarly, the material has the same energy value as wood and can be safely disposed of in modern incineration plants to recover the energy value.
