Plastic free packaging
I’ve been scouring health food stores looking for plastic-free facial scrub to no avail [pun intended]. Burt’s Bees has it. I haven’t examined the packaging in person yet, but it looks like the same packaging as their Carrot Day Creme.
Plastic-free packaging and product
Plastic-free and over 90% biodegradable. The removable strip for the adhesive is paper. No plastic outer wrapping on the box, nor yet, a plastic sticker “seal”. Pretty impressive.
Less guilt, more pleasure. Packaging is made from wood pulp and certified for all key biodegradation situations including industrial, home and waste-water categories. Fantastic initiative from Boulder Canyon Natural Foods.
Plastic free moisturizer
This moisturizer comes in a glass jar with a metal lid. Nice! The box is 35% post-consumer content. More Burt’s Bees moisturizers in the glass jar:
- Carrot Nutritive Night Creme
- Radiance Day Creme
- Beeswax Moisturizing Day Creme
- Beeswax Moisturizing Night Creme
- Beeswax & Royal Jelly Eye Creme
Plastic Pollution Coalition’s pledge to refuse single-use and disposable plastic sounds great, but how does one practically do that? I’ve created a list here of products with environmentally friendly packaging.
Compostable bioplastic packaging
Packaged in a carton made from 80% recycled cardboard, 100% recyclable. It’s tough to see in the thumbnail (click to enlarge), but there is a cut out window in the bottom right of the package with see-thru plastic. Believe it or not, it’s made from FSC certified wood pulp, and is certified 100% compostable. Hallelujah! Thank you, Jovial. Why isn’t everyone doing this?

Biodegradable packaging & product
How cool is this? This toothbrush is made from bamboo and it’s 100% biodegradable. Packaging is also biodegradable. Please comment if you’ve tried these. I really hope they don’t suck.
